It was a case of real women to their best. Talk about power, inspiration, sophistication, glam, domination and charm, talk about Divas of colour 2014. London to it’s name fashion capital city saw some revolution as diversity ones again added to it’s many beautiful charm. At the heart of it’s buzzing centre At Hilton hotel tower bridge gathered worlds most powerful, most talented, fashion designers, beauty editors, top brands, women and gentle men of worth, to celebrate, recognise, reward, and discover the best of women of colour. From far and wide came powerful women as they came to witness something phenomenal . A new era was born. 30 media personalities including photographers, bloggers, magazine editors, beauty and fashion editors were fully represented.
The music was surreal, environment cosy, friendly and a touch of luxury fit for perfect divas . Exactly what divas of colour deserve. For ones, let’s talk about successful women of colour, for ones let’s give ourselves some credit, treat ourselves to some luxury and pampering.

3 outstanding women honoured , 5 women recognised for their works with the prestigious recognition as diva ambassadors. 12 models went head to head fighting for the most prestigious title Diva face with a cash prize of £500 to be won. And 3 female designers also on head to head for the most cherished title – diva designer with the cash prize of £1000 also to be won. I never envied the panel of judges as they had a lot of work to do. Faced with these outstandingly talented creatives, judges – Kwame a Koranteng (KKBT designer), Eryca Freemantle (Global beauty ambassador and celebrity makeup artist), Dee a Maat (international celebrity and magazine stylist), and the one and only global luxury design icon Adebayo Jones, had so much to search for to be able to pick the best of the super talents. They must admit, it was a game of throne. Yeah! It was.

Finally emerging the winners deservedly were model – Vanessa NM a 4th year multi talented medical student, fashion designer and hairstylist, to become the most envied girl on earth with the title – Diva a Face of colour . The first and mist prestigious title to represent all women of colour globally. Another super label JoDeLyn London also emerged the winner of the highly regarded Diva designer title with her Caviar collection.
It was not only fashion on the runway, it was also about glam on the carpet and inspiration on the pulpit as powerful women tell of one inspiring story to another. Honoured among many others was CNN heroes Princess Betty Makoni who was presented with woman of honour award by Princess Deun Solarin Adedoyin.

Raises the issue of domestic violence Mary Akangbe the founder of Glowing Future told of her experience with domestic violence as did DVUK ambassador Jenni Steele as she gave her keynote speech. Our very own Chief editor and founder of Divas of colour Faustina Anyanwu aka Fauntee also gave a powerful speech too. Urging women to take up more responsibility to make sure our stories are told and our heritage preserved. “We have a responsibility to teach and train our boys to love, respect, cherish and appreciate their sisters, we have a responsibility to know that as women of colour, we are complete, whole and lacking nothing, we have a responsibility to leave a legacy such that our children will be proud to step into the footprints we leave behind when we’re gone. This us the time of the divas, let’s make it happen.”
