THE DICKENS SANOMI ANNUAL ESSAY COMPETITION 2014 HAS ONLY TWO WEEKS REMAINING

The Dickens Sanomi Annual Essay Competition 2014 is drawing to a close with only two weeks remaining to get essay entries submitted. The competition’s closing date is the 31st October.

Now in its 4th year the DSF Essay Competition is a national competition open to all Nigerian students of secondary school age. The competition is organized by The Dickens Sanomi Foundation, an independent non-governmental organization set up to promote the importance of education in particular writing skills amongst our youth.

Essays must not be more than 1,500 words long, they can be hand written or typed. The judges will be looking for students to have captured the relevance of the titles, grammar, presentation and the logical discussion.

There will be three winners in each category, first, second and third.

The Dickens Sanomi Foundation would like to encourage all Junior and Senior students to enter for the opportunity to win a substantial cash prize towards the winning students’ school fees.

The students that win first prize will also win an additional grant for their school towards a project of the schools’ choice.

This years’ essay competition is split into two categories Junior Secondary School and Senior Secondary School

The Junior Secondary School essay title is:

The youth of today tend to look up to celebrities but are they being good role models or are they setting a bad example for teenagers? Discuss

The Senior Secondary School essay title is:

Childhood obesity is quickly overtaking smoking as the world’s no 1 killer for teenagers. Discuss.

The Dickens Sanomi Foundation will be holding a prize giving award ceremony on the 3rd December 2014, where the winners will be announced. Additional information will follow nearer the time.
