Now in its 12th year, Jakarta Fashion & Food Festival (JFFF) held on 13 May to 7 June 2015 in Summarecon Kelapa Gading through three main series of events that are always consistently raised, they are Fashion Festival, Food Festival, and Gading Nite Carnival. Carrying out the mission of enhancing the image and dignity of the Indonesian nation through culture-based creative industries, JFFF not only a means of maintaining the richness of Indonesian culture, but also as a forum to promote fashion and culinary products, globally.

JFFF first time held in 2004 and always held in May every year since then, initiated by Jakarta Provincial Government through Jakarta Tourism and Culture Office in cooperation with Summarecon. JFFF is part of the program ‘Enjoy Jakarta’ as well as the opening event in the series of Jakarta’s anniversary, and also supports the program ‘Wonderful Indonesia’ by the Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia.

FASHION FESTIVAL

Showcasing Indonesia’s rich and diverse culture through fashion. Indonesian top designers, independent designers, and young designers show their new take on tradition in vast collections of contemporary ethnic ready-to-wear apparel through fashion shows and trade show. Conveying its concern and encouragement for fashion industry, JFFF provides fashion competitions and awards; they are Gading Model Search (GMS), GMS Kids, Next Young Promising Designers, and Fashion Icon Awards.

Fashion show will be held at two locations, first is at The Forum Mal Kelapa Gading on 15-24 May 2015 and secondly at the Ballroom Harris Hotel & Conventions Kelapa Gading on 20-28 May 2015, the Fashion Festival JFFF present a solo fashion show, parade fashion show, and two special shows. The main fashion designers of Fashion Festival JFFF 2015 are Adji Notonegoro, Didi Budiardjo, Harry Ibrahim, ISIS by Andrea Risjad and Amot Syamsuri Muda, Malik Moestaram, Marga Alam, Musa Widyatmodjo, Oscar Lawalata, and Tuty Cholid.

For the first special show is ‘Kebaya Nusantara’ on May 20th, 2015 as the opening fashion show at the Ballroom Harris Hotel & Conventions Kelapa Gading, which presents fashion designers Marga Alam and Adji Notonegoro, and Indonesian kebaya collector Mien R. Uno and GRA Satuti Yamin Suryohadiningrat. While the second special show is JFFF Awards on May 28th, 2015 as the Fashion Festival top event, presenting the Fashion Icon Awards and a fashion show by one of Indonesia’s leading designer Didi Budiardjo, as part of celebrating his 25 years working in the fashion industry, in collaboration with the Government & National Crafts Council Area of Pekalongan.

The concept of trade show in Fashion Festival is shown in Fashion Village through 70 booths located along the ground floor corridor of Mal Kelapa Gading. The attractive exhibition stands and presentations display some distinctive collections rarely found elsewhere from participating designers, local fashion brands, as well as high quality products of small and medium enterprises. Here, visitors can enjoy and easily buy their favorite designer’s collection and international quality local fashion products.

FOOD FESTIVAL

JFFF emphasizes Summarecon Kelapa Gading’s image as a city of million foods by hosting Food Festival. An assortment of delectable traditional dishes are served with unique nostalgic flavors at Kampoeng Tempo Doeloe, while the best wine and cheese products from various countries are introduced at the Wine & Cheese Expo, making JFFF a must-visit culinary capital of Indonesia. Not to forget, Jakarta Wine & Cheese Run.

Kampoeng Tempo Doeloe (KTD) is the old Indonesian spelling that means Village in the Past. Showcasing many Indonesian dishes from many regions in Indonesia with an ambiance of vintage decorations, visitors are encouraged to try all the Indonesian culinary delights. There are many choices of delicious Indonesian food available here that you may find yourself confused on what to eat first. This year KTD brings total 117 tenants, booth and carts, as well as the theme of the decor “Sunda Kelapa Harbor”. KTD will be transformed in a way that resembles the ancient port, equipped with attractive decorations, ornaments like in the harbor, as well as colorful ship replicas.

Adjacent with KTD is the Wine & Cheese Expo, presents a variety of wine, cheese, and chocolate from the best manufacturers and distributors, also supported by partner countries. Wine & Cheese Expo in partnership with the embassies of partner countries in the expo so as to create a cultural exchange activity as well as providing opportunities to promote JFFF to the international level. The expo also features wine dinner, wine workshop, wine and food pairing, cooking demo, and many more.

Complementing the Wine & Cheese Expo, Jakarta Wine & Cheese Run is back for the third time on May 31st, 2015. Adapted from Marathon du Medoc in Bordeaux, France, the concept is unique because participants have to run with a particular themed costumes. Not only 10 km, participants can also choose the distance of 5 km, and 1.2 km KidsDash. Jakarta Wine & Cheese Run costume theme in 2015 is “Thematic Costume Around the World” with the grand prize, chances to participate in the Mount Fuji Marathon, Japan.

GADING NITE CARNIVAL

14 May 2015, 6PM

A pioneer of night carnival in Indonesia, Gading Nite Carnival will be back in JFFF festively. Gading Nite Carnival perform a story represented by the carnival’s icon ‘Mat Gading’, this year with a singing skill, as well as the theme of ‘Odyssey In Harmony’. Integrating multimedia theatrical concept, every appearance in Gading Nite Carnival symbolizes the diverse and beauty of nature and the people of Indonesia. The carnival’s highlight is a street parade consisting of hundreds participants, decorated cars, contemporary art attraction, costume party, and spectacular fireworks show.
