But the best messages were left by Beyoncé, Alicia Keys and Rihanna.

Beyoncé came on formation
Beyoncé made an imperial arrival with Blue Ivy respectively in a white and beige princess dress. After what, she turned the white carpet into a momentum of black sisterhood. Women who collaborated on Lemonade album were represented. As a strong symbol, the mothers of four unarmed black men killed: Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, Oscar Grant and Eric Garner, and the model Winnie Harlow and actress Quvenzhané Wallis were by her side. Be rocked the white carpet and got home with eight moonman awards including best video of the year.

Rihanna Caribbean icon
Rihanna accepted the Video Vanguard Award for her entire career, started ten years ago. Also known as the Lifetime Achievement Award, it is given to musicians who have made a profound effect on the MTV culture, honoring an artist’s body of work. The Barbadian girl was keen to share her success with Barbado and even more. ‘Now my success is not my own. It’s my family’s. It’s my fan’s. It’s the Caribbean’s as a whole. It’s women’s, it’s black women’s.’ During the night she put in all the work, work, work superb performances throughout the ceremony, far above what she has accustomed her fans in concert.
