We are big fans of tailoring which seems to be a bit of a trend at the moment. The phrase ‘power suit’ gets thrown around but it tends to conjure up images of the 80’s with giant shoulder pads. We have some top tips to help you avoid looking like you stepped out of Dynasty. The key is really to pair your suit with modern pieces to balance it out and give a fresh vibe.

Mix up the style

Forget about teaming your suit with a classic white shirt or blouse as that can look really dated. How about swapping it for a graphic or slogan t-shirt that will make your look edgier.

Ditch the heels

Smart trousers are always normally paired up with a pair of heels. Instead, try giving your feet a break and throw on a pair of sneakers. It’s all about chunky sneakers at the moment so get yourself a lace up white pair for a street style look.

Bold prints

While we are fans of a plaid suit you shouldn’t be afraid to go for a bolder look. An all over floral blazer will really make a statement.

Contrasting styles

The power suit is known for its very structured style so it can be nice to add a more feminine touch. Try styling with a pretty lace top or camisole and show a little skin.

Cropped Blazer

For those of you with quite a petite frame you can feel like you are being swamped in a suit with all the material. Make sure that your trousers are fitted and pair with a cropped blazer.

Simple Tee

If you want a look that works just as well for the office as it does for a more smart-casual setting then don’t over look the simple white t-shirt.
