Renowned US author and poet Maya Angelou dies aged 86

Dr Maya Angelou is a renowned and celebrated author and poet whose works have earned over 50 awards including the Presidential medal of freedom.  Loved by many and cherished by all, has today Wednesday 28th May passed on aged 86.  Her memoir - I know why the caged bird sings - was one of the first best sellers by African Americans and continued to make history over the years.

Fairtrade another slave trade on African soil study finds.

A recent unprecedented study finds that landless, women and those with limited education do not benefit from and are "outside the dynamics of Fair Trade labelling". The use of child labour in the production of the so labelled ethical produce widely sold in the UK were evidently found . Fair Trade has not been an effective mechanism for improving the lives of wage workers, the poorest rural people. "Many Fair Trade organisations, establish a minimum price for producers but do not deal with the conditions of workers that the producers may employ." Noting also hat Fair Trade is just one of the Institutional forms of the broader phenomenon of agricultural exports known to have too little knowledge of the labour market.
