Despite his incredible business acumen, Jake really didn't thrive at school. Suffering dyslexia (without knowing it at the time), he felt stupid amongst his peers, struggled to engage and felt like he didn't fit in.

My challenges started before I'd even set up my first business. While finishing University I created a business plan for an idea I'd had around setting up a video game e-commerce company. I took this report to an established business advisor in Manchester, who looked through it and told me it was a sound proposition. But he then proceeded to tell me that he felt that I would struggle to execute it in that industry as I was young, black and disruptive, and the industry was controlled by the old guard.

Although this situation has presented us with enormous challenges, it’s also important to quickly grasp the intrinsic message that comes with the situation, knowing that problems are the number one byproduct of progress. Resilience allows you to deal with constantly changing environments. Now is the time for you to start laying your hands on things that may come your way.
