Thelma Amarachi Orji was born on June 19, 1995. The Nigerian hip hop recording artist from Anambra state is a member of a super female teen rap group Dem Gurlz.
She started off as a radio talk show presenter on Cool FM Lagos,and co-hosted the “Let It Out Show” with now 1music DJ; Lil H.
In 2010 she started her career as a rapper, after she was discovered and groomed by Ernest “the RABBI” Audu through his Peaceville academy for young entertainers.
Thelma first started to gain major attention within the music industry in 2012, after Dem Gurlz won the Blue Print award for Most Promising Female Rap Group. In that same year, she starred in “Going Places” a TV reality series that chronicled the making of the first female rap group in Nigeria. The show was a major hit on Sound City TV/ ONTV and served as a platform to introduce Thelma the rapper to a larger audience of music lovers.
Once described as “a force to reckon with” by Storm 360 founder; Obi Asika, and vetran and living legend; Dj Jimmy Jat. Thelma Orji’s credibility and popularity is fast rising amongst rap and pop music fans in Nigeria. She has appeared at numerous red carpet events and has performed on major platforms and concerts like the Vibe Magazine club tour of 2011. In 2013, she was a guest on the “Big Friday Show” on MTV Base.
Her first official single “What Is The Matter?” was produced by Mavin records producers; Baby Fresh. The song features Dammy Krane and fellow Peaceville academy member; Egar Boi. Some of her unreleased collaborations include songs with Sound Sultan and General Pype.
Her major musical influences are Lauryn Hill, Rah Digger and Nicki Minaj.
