The news was confirmed this morning via twitter by the Nigeria Football Association who confirmed reports that the captain and coach passed on early hours of today Wednesday 8th of June, 2016.

Keshi who lost his wife last December to cancer, was one of Africa’s most successful sports men. A renowned player and coach. Keshi played and was Nigeria captain to lift the Nations cup with Super Eagles. He who was also an international player having played in USA, Belgium France and Malaysia. He won 64 caps for Nigeria scoring 9 goals between 1981 and 1995. Took Nigeria to finish at 16 at the last world cup in 2014.

Before becoming Nigeria coach in 2011, Keshi’s managerial career had began in 2004 when he successfully took the Sparrow Hawks of Togo to a World cup qualification in 2006. Went on to manage Mali also.
