#Stride4SafetyDivas of Colour International Women’s Festival, Europe’s only women of colour festival announces it’s campaign focus for 2019 on violence against women around the world. All over the world, in 21st century, it is shocking to note that women’s bodies are still being subjected to mere sexual and entertainment objects for men. Both cultural, religious and even economic ideologies continue to hold this idea that women are to be used by men and for entertainment. With the help of all stakeholders, this year’s sugar anniversary of Divas of Colour is set to change all of that.

Slated for 30th and 31st of March, Divas of Colour festival 2019 is going to be even more extraordinary as we incorporate music segment into the festival. Women of colour music artists and performers are now being called to register their interest to perform on the largest platform celebrating women of colour.

“With our tailored campaigns which will unfold as time goes on, we will launch series of education and awareness programs which will educate especially women on how to protect themselves, prevent occurrences and what to do should they fall victims. The first step begins with helping women understand their worth, their rights and practical empowerment of building self esteem and financial power”, the founder, Faustina Anyanwu said.

The first ever Divas of Colour festival was held in March 2014 and since then has continued to grow in strength and influence, tackling the hard topics and helping women of diverse backgrounds to connect, grow and learn more about their own strength. The festival which is now a two day event and comprises of both, trade exhibitions, fashion show, conferences, and awards, will also this year, include music segment to it’s already exciting program each year. Attracting global women of high repute and power, including, political leaders, celebrities, influencers, entrepreneurs and big businesses Divas of Colour Festival continues to lead in setting pace as the largest and most respected platform for women of colour from around the globe.

In it’s 6 years, Divas of Colour has seen through it’s doors women such as Dawn Butler, MP (UK’s Shadow minister for women and equalities), Baroness Rosalind Howells of St Davids (Member of UK House of Lords), Baroness Floella Benjamin (Member UK house of Lords), Hon. Cecilia Ogwal, MP (Member of parliament Uganda), Rep. Dee Dawkins Haigler (US Georgia State representative), Hon. Abike Dabiri of Nigeria , Senator Grace Bent of Nigeria, among many others.

“As Divas of Colour International Women’s forum continues to grow, our major focus will continue to be on the welfare of the women we serve – Diverse,Intelligent, Versatile, able, sisters of Colour, who are in the media, tech, health care, business, law, politics, entertainment and all manners of career and status. As we celebrate their contributions, achievements, open debate on issues that affect them and of course creating an enabling platform for growth both for women in business and career professionals. We will never deviate from the core purpose of the organisation.”
In the last six years, Divas of Colour has hosted over 200 businesses by and for women of colour, who have exhibited on our shows and we continue to expand the figures. We remain also grateful to the brands that have continued to sponsor the vision.Including our now two times sponsors WorldRemit and Fashion Fair, LycaMobile, Lebara Mobile, Ultimalt, Alpha Childcare, Obaseki Solicitors and our lifetime partners -C. Hub Magazine as well as our media friends and partners who continue to spread the news of the work that we do.
