Lewis Hamilton’s stunning victory in Turkey and Valtteri Bottas’ not-to-remember disastrous encounter in the race confirms the Briton the winner of this season’s Formula One championship with three more races left. Today’s win by the Mercedes super talent driver means that Hamilton has won seven Formula One titles and has now equalled Michael Schumacher’s record.

Having more wins (94), more poles (97), and more podiums (163) than anybody in history, Lewis Hamilton is the most decorated driver to have ever raced in Formula One. So far so good in this current campaign, he’s got 10 wins – Hamilton earned his 10th victory today at the Turkish Grand Prix in Istanbul as Racing Point’s Sergio Perez and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel completed the podium after an exciting race.

Lewis Hamilton took his victory today to Twitter as he expressed his happy feelings after conquering the world for the seventh time: “7X Formula 1 World Champion. Wow. To everyone that has supported me along the way, this is for you. To my incredible family, where do I even start? I am eternally grateful for your unconditional love, sacrifices and support…”

Lewis Hamilton initially started today’s race at the sixth position, gained momentum and rose to third halfway through the first lap but he couldn’t keep up the energy (at first) as he dropped back to sixth at the end of the first lap as a result of an error he got attached to at Turn 9. Hamilton having to change his intermediate tyres at a time during the race was key to his remarkable drive to claim victory by over 30 seconds from Perez.

A dramatic last lap saw Charles Leclerc overtaking Sergio Perez for the second position (behind Hamilton) but Sergio Perez was able to regain second as Charles Leclerc had to overcook at Turn 12. Ferrari’s Sebastien Vettel made his first podium today for the first time this season.

Charles Leclerc managed to finish in the fourth position ahead of McLaren’s Carlos Sainz. Red Bull pair, Max Verstappen and Alex Albon concluded the Turkish Grand Prix in sixth and seventh positions respectively.
