WorldRemit sponsors Divas of Colour International Women’s Forum 2017

The organisers of Divas of Colour announces WorldRemit as their premium sponsor for its 4th edition to be held on the 18th March, 2017 at Kia Oval, Surrey County Cricket Club, Harleyford St, Kennington, London SE11 5SS.

WorldRemit is the “WhatsApp of Money” – a digital money transfer service that makes sending money from 50+ countries to more than 125 receiving destinations as easy as sending an instant message. WorldRemit primarily helps migrants from developing countries working in developed countries send money to friends and family through its mobile app and web service.

In addition to bank transfers, cash pickup and mobile phone airtime top up, WorldRemit offers instant transfers to 34 Mobile Money services in 26 countries. More than a third or transactions are received directly on mobile phones via Mobile Money accounts in receiving countries where some 2 billion people are still unbanked but use their phones as a way to achieve financial inclusion.

Catherine Wines, Executive Director and co-founder at WorldRemit said: “WorldRemit very proudly supports Divas of Colour International – the largest gathering of the world’s most powerful women of diverse background and ethnicity from around the globe in celebration of their contributions and achievements. In September 2016 we enabled over half a million transfers per month for the first time, up from 330,000 transfers in January 2016. The driving force behind our explosive growth are our users, including the women of the diaspora supporting their families through our mobile app and website and it is with them that we today wish to celebrate, recognise, unite, discover and empower similar success stories”.

Faustina Anyanwu, CEO of Divas of Colour said: “It’s with gratitude and excitement we welcome WorldRemit to our annual event, which brings together the most influential women from all walks of life. Over the past three years, and with around 1,000 delegates expected this year, Divas of Colour has been an avenue for mostly women-owned businesses to be discovered, get on the market and gain exposure. Through the fashion show, many models and designers have experienced their breakthroughs and numerous women have had the opportunity to raise their profiles as Award winners. Women’s contributions both to the economy globally and their social impact cannot be overemphasized. We respect organisations like WorldRemit who have women’s needs and aspirations in the forefront of their social responsibility.”

Divas of Colour is the largest gathering of world’s most influential women from around the globe. A special day to recognise, reward and discover the best of women’s contributions. The 4th annual event, to be held on 18th March 2017 at Kia Oval is set to be the largest ever, tagged ‘Stay in Health’ in honour of one of our biggest supporters and original partner, Dr Nkem Ezeilo, who passed away recently from breast cancer. This year, the event’s focus is on educating and raising awareness on gynaecological cancers with our chosen charity, Cysters – advocates on the issues of gynaecological well being and women’s health in general.

Influential women, celebrities and power players in the health industry and many other walks of life are expected to attend this year in their numbers. Registrations for designers and exhibitors and nominations are now being accepted on the website – www.divasofcolour.com
