Morecambe Defender,  Christian Mbulu Dead, Aged 24.

Christian Mbulu

A league two club side known as Morecambe has just announced the sudden death of one of their defenders, Christian Mbulu.

Morecambe released a statement on their website expressing their sadness about the death of the 23 years old English professional defender: “Everyone at Morecambe FC is deeply saddened to learn of Christian’s death and would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends at this very sad time. He was only 23 and the news of his sudden and untimely passing has been a shock to us all. Christian came to the club in January and proved to be an extremely popular member of the squad. His loss will be painfully felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The club would ask everyone to respect Christian’s family’s privacy at this sad time.”

The sudden passing away of the young defender is yet to be known to the public but police had been called to an address at Cottam (very close to Preston) on Tuesday. A Lancashire police’s spokesman said Mbulu’s death is not being treated as suspicious: “We were called at around 1:30 pm today (May 26) to an address on Greenfinch Avenue, Cottam, to reports of sudden death. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a file will be passed to the coroner in due course. Our thoughts are very much with his family and friends at this sad time.”

The young centre-back took off his professional football career at Brentwood before leaving to join Millwall in 2015. During his spell at Millwall, he was sent out on loan to Braintree in 2017 before he completed a free transfer move to Motherwell football club (situated in Scotland) in 2018 after his contract ended with Millwall. Christian Mbulu joined Crewe Alexandra in 2019 making just 7 appearances for the League Two club side in England but he was released in January early this year to make a move to Morecambe where he was only able to play just three times before the season was called on hold due to the deadly viral disease (Covid-19) presently affecting the global world.

A lot of football personalities and former clubs of the deceased 23 years old English player have taken their time in expressing their condolences towards the family of the dead defender and his loved ones.

Motherwell FC: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of our former player Christian Mbulu.”

Millwall FC on Christian Mbulu: “Everyone at Millwall Football Club is devasted to learn of the tragic passing of former player Christian Mbulu at the age of just 23. Our hearts go out to his family and friends at this immensely difficult time.”

The Professional  Association on Twitter said: “Our thoughts are with Christain Mbulu’s family and friends at this very sad time.”
