There is no denying that leggings have got to be one of the most comfortable items of clothing to wear. However, aside from when we are working out, is it acceptable to wear them outside of our spin class?

The rise of athleisure speaks volumes and it doesn’t just seem to be a passing trend. As we rush from work, to the gym and then to a meal with friends the need for clothes that easily transition is evident, as there just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day. So, when it comes to wearing leggings as day wear there are a few things you should consider first.

Active wear is not office wear

Wearing head to toe gym wear to the office is not going to do you any favours, unless of course you happen to work in a gym. Stick to wearing your leggings with everyday wear. This leads on to our next point.

Try pairing with knitwear

There is no need to always wear your leggings with vests and hoodies. For a smarter look try pairing with luxe knitwear like a cashmere sweater or a stylish jacket.

Quality over quantity

The main problem with leggings is that they tend to be see-through even if you go for a dark pair. Choosing a pair from high quality material should stop everyone being able to see your underwear and it will help them to last longer. It goes without saying that sheer and nude coloured leggings should be avoided at all cost as they are far from flattering. People will stop and stare if they think you forgot to get properly dressed that morning.

Consider your footwear

Black leggings are easy to dress up but not when you pair them with fluorescent trainers. Go for a shirt and heels or smart flats for drinks and dinner.
