The idea of no makeup makeup is hardly new but for autumn/ winter it has taken on a glossier more high end finish. Skin looks fresh and dewy with flushed cheeks and perfect brows. The idea is to wear makeup so it looks like you aren’t really wearing much makeup. Confusing we know.

We have put together some top tips to help you nail no makeup makeup.

Prepare Your Skin

Begin by exfoliating your skin and moisturising well. Regularly using face masks will also help. Apply a little primer as this will help to hold your makeup. By getting your skin in tip top condition you won’t need to wear too much foundation or concealer.

Base

You don’t want your skin to look too heavy so a sheer foundation is ideal as you can still see the texture of your skin under it. The foundation will still cover some imperfections so you won’t need to apply too much concealer. You don’t want a cakey looking finish.

Neutral Colours

There some colours that are not suitable for this look, like pillar box red. Neutral colours are perfect for minimal looks, just think of soft peach or pink and even brown or taupe. Make sure you blend your eyeshadow well as there should be no harsh edges.

Flushed Cheeks

You want your blusher to look natural so avoid sucking your cheeks right in, you only need to see where your cheekbones are. Then just apply a little to the apples of your cheeks.

Plump Lips

While you want a full lip look you still want them to appear natural. Fill in your lips using liner and then go ever so slightly over your natural lip line. You should also go a little over the line when it comes to applying your lipstick too. Stick to creamy lipsticks as a matte lipstick will highlight the fact your have gone over your natural lip line.
