Afua Sam, founder of STUDIO D’MAXSI, one of the fastest growing fashion houses based in Washington, DC has been honoured with the 2019 DC Hall of Fame Fashion Awards organized by DC Fashion Week.

DC Fashion Week’s Opening Night which took place on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the newly renovated Washington Court Hotel located on Capitol Hill showcased the very best of DC-based design talent. The participating honorees are prior fashion week alumni who have continued to contribute to DC’s creative economy. The met gala theme event delighted the hearts of fashionistas and attendees.

A partnership of independent fashion designers, producers, and models, DCFASHIONWEEK was created to increase economic development in the area of fashion design, clothing merchandising and modeling, and to enhance the visibility of the nation’s capital as a center of international fashion.  

With multiple awards, international projects and celebrity stylings under her belt, Afua Sam says of the newly added feather to her already colourful cap – “It was such an amazing night to see all-star designers in one room. I thank my Father God for the gift of Fashion.
