Invest Africa CEO, UK Government Africa Investor Group Member, and Former PwC UK Africa Leader Chantelé Carrington joins African Collaborations Group (ACG) Advisory Board to advance sport and entertainment districts across Africa
LONDON / JOHANNESBURG : African Collaborations Group (ACG) has announced a significant boost to its capital mobilisation capacity, confirming the appointment of Chantelé Carrington, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Africa, to its Advisory Board.
According to a press statement released by the platform on Monday, 12 October, Carrington’s appointment is aimed directly at solving one of the continent’s most persistent development bottlenecks: linking large-scale, bankable sports and entertainment infrastructure projects with international institutional capital.
Bridging the Capital Gap in Africa’s $20 Billion Sports Market
Africa’s sports economy is projected to expand to USD 20 billion by 2035, according to industry forecasts. However, regional growth has historically been hampered by a lack of integrated, mixed-use infrastructure. Rather than relying on traditional single-venue stadium models – which often turn into underutilised assets after major tournaments – ACG originates master-planned Victory District™ ecosystems. These commercial, mixed-use hubs are designed to generate continuous revenue and long-term economic returns.
To turn these master plans into physical assets, ACG requires direct access to development finance institutions (DFIs), private equity funds, and sovereign investors. This is precisely where Carrington’s background comes into play.
Having taken the helm as CEO of Invest Africa in January 2024, Carrington leads a global network of over 400 member organisations, including institutional investors, multinationals, DFIs, and government bodies.
A Track Record in Cross-Border Investment
Carrington, an accountant and financial services consultant by background, brings more than two decades of cross-border capital mobilisation experience across Africa, Europe, Asia, the US, and the Middle East.
Prior to her role at Invest Africa, she spent several years in top-tier executive leadership at PwC UK, where she served as Strategic International Markets Leader and Chief Operating Officer of PwC UK’s Africa Business Group. Her career has centered on navigating multi-jurisdictional trade structures, infrastructure deals, and cross-border investment flows.
Her influence also extends into international policy frameworks. Originally from South Africa, Carrington sits on the UK Government’s Africa Investor Group, serves on the External Advisory Board for the UK-African Investment Summit, and previously chaired the advisory panel for the UK-Africa Investment Summit’s Technical Assistance Facility.
Strategic Alignment for Victory District™ Projects
Commenting on the appointment in today’s release, Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard, Founder and Executive Chairman of ACG, emphasised that Carrington’s arrival provides the vital bridge between project design and financial close:
“Chantelé brings to our Advisory Board the one thing that every infrastructure origination platform ultimately needs: access to the investor community. As CEO of Invest Africa, she leads a platform of over four hundred member organisations that include the exact institutions, private equity firms, DFIs, and multinationals that can finance and participate in Victory District™ projects.”
“As a member of the UK Government’s Africa Investor Group, she connects at the policy level where investment decisions are shaped. Her appointment strengthens ACG’s ability to connect bankable projects to bankable capital.”
As ACG continues to structure large-scale sports district projects across the continent, Carrington’s role on the board will center on aligning international investors, public-private partnership (PPP) authorities, and regional governments to bring these multi-million-dollar developments from initial feasibility to delivery.
