Amma Rose is no stranger to the inside of a hospital. Now in her 12th year living on Dialysis, End Stage Kidney Failure sufferer and founder of “An Evening With CKD” Rose realized whilst receiving treatment three times a week how more and more young people are being affected by Chronic Kidney Disease [CKD].

CKD, Chronic Kidney Disease is the constant deterioration of Kidney function over a period of time. Thousands of people live with CKD for years undiagnosed and often fall victim to sudden heart attacks and strokes. The single most common cause of End Stage Chronic Kidney Disease is Diabetes – rife in the UK African Caribbean community.

Frustrated, Rose vowed to take matters into her own hands and thus An Evening With CKD was created.

Community participation became a common occurrence since it’s inception in November 2013,  but nothing compares to the scale of Amma’s latest Kidney awareness fundraising initiative.

On Saturday 1st November 2014 Stoke Newington’s prestigious Old Town Hall will play host to a Charity fundraising dinner just three days before her father donates his kidney.

The night will come alive with host Geoff Schumann, guest speaker senior Nephrologist Dr Raj from the Royal London Hospital, Ex Soul II Soul singer, mother of Alexandra Burke – Melissa Bell, who will be sharing her CKD journey, Award winning comedian, Curtis Walker, Reggae artist Peter Hunnigale and lots more to make the patrons ‘Kidney Aware’.

Event Sponsors on the night are KnT Photography, The British Heart Foundation, Tesco’s Ltd, Not Guilty Just Delicious, NC Productions and The Voice.
