Yesterday 11/11/2014, thousands gather as His Lordship Cllr Adedamola Aminu, mayor of Lambeth borough of London unveils the first ever historic memorial dedicated to African and Caribbean fallen soldiers at Brixton . As the world celebrate the centenary of the First World War, his Lordship led a grand ceremony, laying wreaths and dedicated the memorial for the forgotten African and Caribbean men and women who served Great Britain in military campaigns during the World War I and II.

Mayor Adedamola Aminu has been hailed as a hero by the African and Caribbean community in London for initiating and championing this historic gesture. The community can not thank him enough for remembering our falling and long forgotten heroes.
“We will remember them,” he said.
