“Everyone at Morecambe FC is deeply saddened to learn of Christian’s death and would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends at this very sad time. He was only 23 and the news of his sudden and untimely passing has been a shock to us all. Christian came to the club in January and proved to be an extremely popular member of the squad. His loss will be painfully felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The club would ask everyone to respect Christian’s family’s privacy at this sad time.”

Utaka started his professional football career as a player at Enugu Rangers before moving out to join two Egyptian club sides (El Mokawloon and Ismaily) in the year 1998 and 2000 respectively in search of a new challenge. The former winger didn’t really spend much time in Egypt as he signed for a Qatari club side, Al Sadd, in the year 2001.

Hundreds of them died alone, in pain, without their loved ones to fare them well in their last moments. Many, left to be buried by their helpless and often struggling, scared and already infected families and communities. They paid the ultimate price with their lives so that the UK will not be overwhelmed by the virus. They protected the NHS even as they lost their lives while the government continued to dither and dribble with empty words.
